Introduction

Salony ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the UAE Federal Decree-Law on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL) and its implementing regulations. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.
By using the Salony mobile application, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. Where your consent is required by law, we will ask for it separately before processing your data.


1. Who We Are (Data Controller)

Salony operates as the Data Controller for personal data collected through this application.

2. What Personal Data We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide our services:

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the PDPL, we process your personal data on the following lawful bases:
Contractual necessity — to fulfil your orders, manage your account, and provide the services you request.
Legal obligation — to comply with UAE laws, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Legitimate interests — to improve our services, prevent fraud, and ensure app security, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
Your consent — for location tracking (when the app is in use or in the background), marketing communications, and push notifications. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 9).


4. How We Use Your Personal Data

We use your personal data to:
Create and manage your account
Process, fulfil, and track your orders
Calculate delivery routes and show available services in your area
Send order confirmations, status updates, and service notifications
Respond to your enquiries and customer-support requests
Send promotional offers and recommendations — only with your consent
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
Comply with applicable UAE laws and regulations
Improve and personalize the app experience
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.


5. Location Data

We request access to your device location only to show you available services and enable accurate delivery. Specifically:
Foreground location (while using the app): used to detect your current area and suggest nearby services.
Background location (optional, only if you enable delivery tracking): used to provide real-time order tracking.
You can manage location permissions at any time through your device settings (Settings → Apps → Salony → Permissions → Location). Disabling location access may limit certain features such as automatic area detection, but you can still enter your address manually.


6. Sharing Your Personal Data

We share your data only as described below and never beyond what is necessary:
Service providers: logistics partners, payment processors, cloud hosting providers, and analytics tools that help us operate the app — all bound by data-processing agreements requiring PDPL-equivalent protections.
Legal and regulatory authorities: when required by UAE law, court order, or government authority.
Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred — we will notify you before this occurs.
Any cross-border transfer of your data will be made only to countries with adequate data-protection standards or under appropriate contractual safeguards as required by the PDPL.


7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary:

8. Data Security

We apply industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including:
Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest
Access controls limiting who can access your data internally
Regular security assessments
Incident-response procedures to notify affected users in the event of a data breach, in accordance with PDPL requirements
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@salony.ae.


9. Your Rights Under the UAE PDPL

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Right to be informed: Know what data we collect and how we use it (this Policy).
Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
Right to restrict processing: Ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for location tracking or marketing communications at any time without affecting prior processing.
How to exercise your rights:
Submit a request to privacy@salony.ae with the subject line "Data Rights Request." We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing the request.


10. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.


11. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our app may use analytics tools and tracking technologies to understand usage patterns and improve performance. These do not identify you personally unless combined with account data. You can limit data collection by adjusting your device's advertising ID settings.


12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will:
Display a clear notice within the app
Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this Policy
Where required by law, seek your renewed consent
Continued use of the app after the effective date of a revised Policy constitutes your acknowledgement of the changes.
